Why reading the Bible in Gĩkũyũ provides a profoundly intimate spiritual experience.
It is a gift of invaluable worth from God, the owner of all wisdom, to articulate our faith in Gĩkũyũ. When the early missionaries arrived, they faced an immense hurdle: bridging the ancient understanding of Ngai, the God residing on Mt. Kenya, with the majestic Almighty God of Israel. Today, when I read the Scriptures in my mother tongue, it speaks directly to my spirit in a way English never could. We must preserve this language so our children can experience the gospel not as a foreign import, but as an intimate local reality.
